If you have 30 military training credits, you already have 25% of the credits you need to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Missouri Western.听You can apply credits from your Joint Services Transcript or Community College of the Air Force Transcript as the foundation of a Bachelor of Science in Technology (BST) degree.

An advisor from Missouri Western will work with you to create a custom major that builds upon the training you have already received through the military. The resulting BST degree will have a career-oriented emphasis. In most cases, military students will graduate more quickly with a BST than those pursuing a traditional bachelor鈥檚 degree, potentially saving thousands of dollars. Many students will also be able to complete a BST using online courses.

The BST is made up of three parts: transfer credits, general education courses, and a custom concentration.

TRANSFER CREDITS

Start with:

a minimum of 30 credits of military training

or

an AAS or an AS degree

or

a minimum of 30 credit hours of applied coursework

or

any combination of 30 credits listed above

GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES

Fulfill Missouri Western’s general education course requirements.

Transfer courses can count toward this requirement.

CUSTOM CONCENTRATION

Work with the BST advisor to create a custom concentration of at least 30 credit hours.

Any combination of courses is possible as long as that combination is logical and supports your career goals.

*Transfer credits must be either be from a regionally accredited college/university OR military credit recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE).

An AAS/AS degree, applied coursework or military training can serve as the base of a BST. Upon this base, a concentration is built. This concentration may include any combination of courses as long as the combination is educationally sound and has a cohesive theme supporting a career goal. The concentration must include at least 30 credits, including at least 18 upper-level credits.

The provided sample concentration models are starting points to help you think about possible concentrations for the Bachelor of Science in Technology. A concentration can include any combination of courses that fit together into an academically logical pattern that supports a defined educational/career goal.听An academic advisor will work with you to develop a proposal that will then be reviewed by department chair and college dean. Approval will be based on the relationship of the proposed concentration to your educational/career objective.

What about online courses?

Missouri Western offers more than 300 courses online. Several minors and some majors can be completed entirely online. Search the online course schedule.

In addition, members of the air force may complete their GEM requirements through online courses at Missouri Western.
