º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø requires the General Studies Assessment (reporting to Academic Affairs) to submit an annual assessment plan and an Assessment and Improvement Report of student learning achievement.
The General Studies Committee (GSC) represents the faculty in assessing student learning in general studies, assisting departments with Core 42 applications, and monitoring adherence to º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø’s General Studies philosophy.
GSC works with General Studies faculty to map º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø courses to General Studies’ curriculum.
Based on course content, General Studies courses are identified to conduct assessment on specific SLOs. Working with GSC to ensure alignment, instructors select an existing student assignment and collect student work we call artifacts.
The GSC selects faculty to evaluate student work using a rubric throughout the summer.
The GSC submits a completed report to the Office of Assessment and Accreditation (OAA) by October 15 each year. The OAA shares results in an annual assessment report.
