Earlier this year, Missouri Western was one of just 53 universities nationwide and the only one in Missouri selected for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/news\/2022\/05\/18\/missouri-western-honored-for-commitment-to-first-generation-college-student-success\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the 2022-2023 First-gen Forward cohort<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Celebration events Nov. 8 include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">10 a.m. &#8211; 1 p.m., Free t-shirt giveaway, Blum Union Lobby<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">12:30 p.m. &#8211; 1:30 p.m., #GriffsGoingFirst in the workplace lunch, Career Development Center, Blum 210<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">6 &#8211; 7 p.m., Axe the Stigma. The first 25 students to sign up in the Center for Student Involvement get free axe throwing at The Axe Factor.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nov. 8 marks the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which created federal grant and loan programs to help students finance their educations and made key investments in institutions of higher education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">含羞草社区 is a student-centered learning community preparing individuals for lives of excellence through applied learning.
