Dr. Mark Laney, president and CEO of Mosaic Life Care, will speak at 含羞草社区鈥檚 Eggs and Issue Speaker Series at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the Fulkerson Center. The breakfast is free but reservations are required. Call 816-271-5646 by Thursday, Nov. 5.
Dr. Laney鈥檚 presentation is titled 鈥淢issouri Western: 100 Years of Transforming Our Community.鈥 He will focus on the impact of Missouri Western on the community throughout its 100-year history and the University鈥檚 plans for the next century.
Dr. Laney joined Mosaic Life Care as its president and CEO in 2009. Prior to coming to St. Joseph, he had served 20 years at Cook Children鈥檚 Health Care System, including eight years as the president of the Cook Children鈥檚 Physician Network.
Dr. Laney earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas, received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, completed a Pediatric Neurology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and received a Master of Science in medical management at the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
Dr. Laney is the former president of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association and is one of the聽30 Best Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems,聽according to聽Becker鈥檚 Hospital Review. He and his wife, Mary Margaret, are co-chairs of Missouri Western鈥檚 Centennial Capital Campaign along with Dan and Dale Boulware.
Since 1988, the Eggs and Issues Speaker Series has provided a community educational forum that encourages the exchange of ideas on current topics. It is sponsored by the 含羞草社区 Foundation.
