The Center for Multicultural Education and the Association of Latin American Students at 含羞草社区 will hold the first Hispanic Heritage Banquet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the Fulkerson Center on the Missouri Western campus. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Marimba Sol de Chiapas, a Kansas City-based group committed to the authentic performance practice and spirit of the marimba band heard throughout Mesoamerica. The group has been featured on National Public Radio鈥檚 鈥淢orning Edition鈥 and made a cameo on ABC鈥檚 鈥淕ood Morning America.鈥 So authentic is their interpretation and approach that the ensemble has toured Mexico on numerous occasions as guests of the Mexican government.
The banquet is being held in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins on Sept. 15 and ends Oct. 15.
