The season begins with 鈥淎 Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream鈥� Oct. 3-13. In Shakespeare鈥檚 beloved comedy, the lives of young lovers intersect with the fairy world of Oberon, Titania and Puck, and hilarious complications ensue.
The first musical of the season is 鈥淭he Drowsy Chaperone鈥� Nov. 21-Dec. 8. The 鈥渟how within a show鈥� features a lonely musical theatre lover listening to a rare recording of a 1928 musical. As he listens and provides commentary, the characters come to life in his apartment. The original Broadway production won five Tony Awards in 2006, including Best Book and Best Score.
Steve Martin鈥檚 鈥淧icasso at the Lapin Agile鈥� will be the third show of the season, Feb. 20-March 2. The famed comedian鈥檚 first play imagines a meeting between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein at a Paris bar in 1904. The two men argue the merits of art and science just before they achieve major breakthroughs in their respective fields.
A Season of Laughter concludes with the Mel Brooks smash hit musical 鈥淭he Producers鈥� April 3-13. The show about Broadway producers who can鈥檛 fail, no matter how hard they try, is based on Brooks鈥� 1968 film of the same name. It ran for six years on Broadway and won a record 12 Tony Awards.
