In October 2022, the Department of Education at º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø was granted Accreditation at the initial licensure level with no stipulations or areas for improvement. This Accreditation status is effective between Fall 2022 and Fall 2029. The next site visit will take place in Spring 2029.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education offers accredited programs for Initial Licensure in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early Childhood Education<\/li>\n<li>Elementary Education<\/li>\n<li>K-12 Special Education<\/li>\n<li>Secondary Education (9-12 &amp; K-12)\n<ul>\n<li>Initial Certification at Undergraduate Level:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/secondary-education\/\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/secondary-education\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initial Certification at Graduate Level: <a href=\"https:\/\/missouriwestern.edu\/education\/mat\">https:\/\/missouriwestern.edu\/education\/mat<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Master of Arts in Teaching &#8211; Secondary (MAT)\n<ul>\n<li>9-12 degrees<\/li>\n<li>K-12 degrees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Department of Education offers Missouri DESE approved additional \u201cadd-on\u201d licensures in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early Childhood-Special Education (birth to grade 3);<\/li>\n<li>Early Childhood Education (birth to grade 3);<\/li>\n<li>Special Reading (K-12); and<\/li>\n<li>English Language Learners (ELL) (K-12).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All degree programs satisfy the appropriate requirements for teacher certi\ufb01cation as established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.<\/p>\n<p>To be certi\ufb01ed to teach, students must ful\ufb01ll all degree requirements, achieve a passing score on the appropriate Content Area Assessment as mandated by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and according to section 168.031 of the Missouri School Laws, present evidence of good moral character.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_4 1_4 fusion-one-fourth fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-padding-top:10px;--awb-padding-right:20px;--awb-padding-bottom:30px;--awb-padding-left:20px;--awb-bg-color:#e2e2e2;--awb-bg-color-hover:#e2e2e2;--awb-bg-size:cover;width:22%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-widget fusion-widget-element fusion-widget-area fusion-content-widget-area wpWidget-1 ct_jquery_3level_accordion_menu_widget\" style=\"--awb-fusion-border-size:0px;--awb-fusion-border-style:solid;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2232","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"publishpress_future_action":{"enabled":false,"date":"2026-08-31 08:24:09","action":"change-status","newStatus":"draft","terms":[],"taxonomy":"category","extraData":[]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":{"enabledWorkflows":[]},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2232","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2232"}],"version-history":[{"count":16,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2232\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":11123,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/2232\/revisions\/11123"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2232"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2232"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2232"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
