He serves as a college media adviser for Missouri Western&#8217;s campus annual, The Griffon. Dr. Carviou is published widely in scholarly journals and books. His research interrogates media narratives and audience response in areas surrounding public health and everyday identity development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The voice of collegiate media and its advisers, College Media Association serves student media pros, staff and programs with education, research and resources. CMA communicates and works with professional media organizations and education associations on the local, state and national levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Founded in 1954 as the National Council of College Publications Advisers, CMA now has more than 700 members \u2014 the people who advise the nation\u2019s collegiate media newspapers, yearbooks, magazines, broadcast and electronic media and their staff \u2014 from coast to coast.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CMA serves thousands of students and advisers at two annual conventions. A national volunteer network of advisers, working with CMA\u2019s associate executive director, coordinates hundreds of educational sessions. The fall convention, sponsored with Associated Collegiate Press, convenes at varying sites across the country. The Spring National College Media Convention convenes each March in New York City. CMA also offers Summer Advisers Workshops and other educational events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CMA members maintain strong lines of communication through print and electronic media. CMA\u2019s website and social media outlets inform members and collegiate media staff of trends and news. College Media Review, its flagship journal, is the leading academic journal on collegiate media, both print and electronic.
